TOP 8 most original winter activities!
The summer vacations are coming to an end (already!?), but that doesn't mean we're going to forget about you! On the contrary, for our part, we're working every day to make you happy.
Each vacation village is getting ready to welcome you, the brochures (hop, little link) are coming out of the oven and are still warm (yes, "brochures", don't read "buns" ... on a misunderstanding); and, at the editorial office, we're already hard at work to offer you ex-clu-sive content (articles, videos ...).
Bookings for the winter season opened a few days ago, and it occurred to us to share with you the best activities and trends in terms of ... various sports! Is it hockey for you? Let's surf the (cold...) winter waves!
Snowkiting
Eternal nostalgia! How can you cleverly switch from summer water to winter snow, without feeling too out of place? Answer: by snowkiting.
The principle is based on that of kitesurfing, which you've (obviously) already tried out at Mimizan plage or Hourtin! This aerotow board lets you glide across the water in the - sometimes strong - wind of the snow-covered mountains. The advantage over water is that you won't need to swim if you fall.
Do you feel those first chills coming on? No, you're not cold, it's just the adrenaline that's getting to you!

Snakegliss
Forget the jokes, snakegliss consists in hurtling down a track using an articulated train of sledges hooked together, like the wagons on a roller coaster. The -notable- advantage here is that you can have fun, even if the mountain is French!
As a family, gang or group of friends, colleagues ..., this discipline will ensure you bursts of laughter and sensations, in single file!
To be practiced, in particular, at the resort of 7 Laux, close to our establishment in Haut-Bréda.

Snowscoot
A cross between the snowboard and BMX cultures (from which it draws its inspiration), the snowscoot is very much in vogue today. Whether you're in a resort or off-piste, you'll be able to maneuver the machine - with a few basic notions of sliding - and perform some great tricks! Don't forget the obligatory bike protectors, before taming the handlebars. So, are you ready to smooth out the track?
Bonus? If you'd like to combine the pleasures of winter and cycling once again, the fat bike is for you. The fat bike is another activity for you! The latter adopts much larger wheels than a classic mountain bike, which grip slippery ground as well as fresher snow ... a true "all-terrain plus-plus"!

There's nothing like a ride in a sled dog team for a breath of fresh air and sensations in the middle of winter! Meet the mushers and their huskies, cross exceptional landscapes, between forests and wide open spaces and you'll experience, for a moment, the life of Norman Winther in his Canadian Yukon!
Go to the station des Rousses, near our vacation villages of Bellefontaine or Bois d'Amont, or at Les 7 Laux (Haut-Bréda) and at Pleynet!

Speed riding
"[...] but nothing ever stops the bird from going higher", thank you Monsieur Fugain, for that perfect transition. You might think we're rambling, with our snowkite. But the practice here is quite different! More extreme, speed riding can take you to the insane speed of almost 100 km/h, and consists of flying over snow-covered slopes with skis in contact with the ground, being towed by a sail.
The alternative is speed flying, which, in turn consists of flying over slopes (after launching on foot), without contact with the ground until landing!
The airbag
To practice the airbag, you'll need: skis, an inclined ramp and a giant air-filled air mattress, all close to the ski slopes. Okay, from this angle, it sounds impossible (except perhaps for the skis. For the giant inflatable mattress, it's more improbable).
Fortunately, these facilities exist and are waiting for you, notably on the Tuffes massif, at the foot of the Balancier slopes, in the Franco-Swiss ski area of Rousses.
The concept: perform jumps and tricks at the start of the ramp, particularly on snowboards, landing on the famous mattress. If a little practice is required, the discipline will allow you to put on a show for the audience!
Skijoring
Like dog sledding, ski-joëring is another gliding sport involving our animal friends. Originating in Scandinavia, this practice is the ancestor of ski lifts, or snow scooters. Simple in appearance, its aim is to put on skis and be towed naturally by a horse (which replaced the reindeer years ago), without a sledge.
Also available as a dog sport, the discipline combines horse guidance and ski agility! Try it out around La Ferrière, on the way to Pleynet!
Don't these eight practices dust off your old snowshoes or sleds in-plastic-flashy-façon-Madeleine-de-Proust?!?
