Savoyard gastronomy in close-up: The must-try!

A winter in Val d'Isère isn't just about skiing, it's also about Savoyard gastronomy. To warm up or comfort yourself after a big day on the slopes, there's nothing better than specialities straight from Savoie!

Tartiflette

LA TARTIFLETTE

Of the 3 most famous Savoy specialties, tartiflette is certainly the most recognized and not the most difficult to reproduce. No appliance is needed, just potatoes, onions, lardons and reblochon (from Savoie, of course).
Don't forget, too, and this is probably the most important, a pinch of friends or loved ones with whom to share it when the temperatures start to drop.
You can of course find, throughout the commune of Val d'Isère, Savoyard restaurants and inns that do honor to tartiflette.

LA RACLETTE

According to numerous surveys, it's France's favorite dish, and indeed, it's becoming increasingly rare not to have a raclette machine at home.
Another very simple Savoyard dish to make, the most technical part: having the right timing to get your cheese out of the raclette machine! Here too, the two main ingredients are potato and cheese, to be accompanied by various kinds of charcuterie.
There's nothing more convivial than a raclette between friends or family, which is why we invite you to enjoy one during your next stay in Val d'Isère.

SAVOYARD FONDUE

To round off this trio of Savoyard specialties, all that was missing was the Savoyard fondue. Its name reflects the regional and typical aspect of the Savoie region, as it was created in France and can be made with different Savoie cheeses, such as Beaufort, Gruyère de Savoie or Comté de montagne, but also mixed with white wine, preferably from Alsace or Savoie.
This dish, just as traditional to share with friends or family and when temperatures drop, will brighten up your winter evenings with its comfort and mix of flavors.

If you want to enjoy a raclette or a Savoyard fondue in our Val d'Isère vacation village, these two typical regional dishes are on the menu at our restaurant!

BONUS: SAVOY CAKE

How can you finish a meal without dessert?
After talking about raclette, fondue and tartiflette, we've chosen a sweet, low-calorie dish. The gâteau de Savoie is a very dietary cookie, which can then balance your meal.
However, it can be good for your health, it remains a very greedy and tasty cake, which can also be enjoyed with an accompaniment like jam for example.
This makes the gâteau de Savoie an emblematic dessert of this region, taking as an asset, its simplicity.

Whether it's for the more sporty or those who have come to relax for the time of a snow holiday, these must-try Savoyard gastronomic delights are sure to give you a moment of happiness and conviviality to share, so enjoy them in this magnificent Val d'Isère setting!
