The most beautiful mountain bike trails in the Jura
Did our vision of a holiday in the Haut-Jura convince you?! Are you ready to head to this magnificent département for your next vacation? That's perfect. Many discoveries await you. On foot, on horseback, by car... there's no shortage of opportunities to get out and explore the region's riches. But don't forget your mountain bike! Whether classic or electrically-assisted, we've selected the most beautiful rides in the Jura! We're not going to dawdle or gossip any longer, just get straight to the point!

Tour des Arcets
This medium-level loop will take you around 1h15. With a distance of 7.5 km, from departmental roads to small paths, you'll discover the village of Prémanon, just a few minutes from our vacation villages of Bellefontaine or Bois d'Amont.
This fairly sporty itinerary offers beautiful views, notably over the Bienne valley and Mont Fier.
Known for its ideal border location, Prémanon is a village where agriculture, crafts (formerly a veritable lumber industry) and white gold tourism prevail, and link the commune's various hamlets.
All in all, the surface area here is occupied by forests on the reliefs (over 2000 ha), clearings and pastures, making for an undoubtedly successful return to our roots!

Le Tour des Prés
This 32 km itinerary is one of the most complete and predominantly forested, with technical and physical sections for accomplished amateurs. The diversity of its landscapes allows you to discover the valley of the Bienne and its accentuated reliefs, the peat bogs of Prés-de-Valfin, the Ravilloles dam and above all ... the "capital" of the Haut-Jura: Saint-Claude.
Known for its history, culture and Jurassian gastronomy, the village, typical of the region of the Dukes of Burgundy is also an ancient monastery and abbey, a high religious -and pilgrimage- place. In fact, its heritage is significant: a listed cathedral, archaeological remains of the abbey, a Byzantine-style chapel... complete a heritage rich in other buildings (ramparts, bridges...). Saint-Claude is an obvious stopover on your cycling tour.

The Lake District
Who doesn't know the great Jura lake region? Essentially of glacial origin, and present in abundance (almost twenty), they are spread between Marigny, and Lac de Chalain, to the north, Villards d'Héria and Lac d'Antre, to the south, Lac de Blye and Lac de Clairvaux to the west and Lac du Maclu and Lac d'Etival to the east.
This highly attractive area, with its undulating terrain, is an ideal destination for mountain bike tours; numerous signposted itineraries of all sizes dot the area, and enable you to discover this unprecedented geography in Europe.
Peaceful, landscaped, man-made or wild, the lakes will punctuate your escapades and visits in the heart of nature; among the most famous, Vouglans lake takes part in the 93-red signposted circuit, almost 25 km long, which also allows you to encounter Clairvaux or the Petit and Grand lacs further north.

Lake Coiselet
This artificial lake, created in 1970, is impressive. On the border of the Jura and Ain departments, fed by two rivers, it is now firmly established in a landscape of relief and cliffs. With its high-quality fauna (pike-perch, pike, carp, etc.), it is a delight for anglers and walkers alike, who also like to lose themselves in the various paths that border the lake, allowing them to enjoy a preserved natural environment.
The route, for a total of around 30 kilometers and accumulating very little elevation gain, will enable you to discover the Oliferne peak, the remains of a 13th-century castle, which dominate the Ain valley at 800 m. above sea level. above sea level, the lake dam or the site of Coisia known for housing dinosaur tracks dating back 150 million years!

La Grande Traversée du Jura
The Grande Traversée du Jura (GTJ) is a classic (especially for mountain biking), in the region. More than 400 km of marked trails await participants on this journey. Starting in Mandeure, in the Doubs region, it takes mountain bikers right into the heart of the Haut-Jura regional nature park, where the omnipresent mountains and contrasting reliefs that smell of spruce and fir challenge them, before arriving in Culoz, in the Ain region.
More athletic in its northern than southern part, the route allows the curious to evolve towards other horizons such as Morteau or the Mont d'Or, where the Alpine panoramas are breathtaking.
There's no doubt about it, the Jura is a great place for cycle touring. In fact, it's a veritable paradise for cyclists, who will find a diversified offering to suit all levels. From complex signposted routes (over 2,000 km) to family loops, there's no doubt that this department in eastern France and its other 100 km of cycle routes will satisfy enthusiasts ready to crush the pedals nose to handlebars!
