Birdwatching at the Traict du Rostu

The Traict du Rostu is a 126-hectare protected natural site, part of the Natura 2000 network. Set between the Atlantic and the salt marshes, it's a paradise for budding ornithologists. At low tide, you'll be able to observe birds such as the Nantes White-throated Bluebird or the Elegant Avocet.

However, it's important to respect these rules: stay on the paths, don't access the dykes bordering the Traict and keep dogs on a leash.

Visit the Salorge de Rostu with Nicolas Arnould

To immerse yourself in the local culture, a visit to the Salorge de Rostu is a must. Nicolas Arnould, a passionate salt worker, offers a 2h30 guided walk from the ocean to the saltworks. The tour explains the salt production cycle and methods. Explanations of how a salt works, the work of the salt worker and his tools, will captivate young and old alike. Visits take place in July and August. Visits are in French on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with registration at the Tourist Office.

La chasse aux papillons

Les Amis des Sites de Mesquer offer a fun and educational activity based around butterflies. For 2 hours, children and parents take part in a butterfly presentation, followed by a capture and identification session, before releasing the insects. This activity is an opportunity to learn more about local biodiversity. It's also a way of raising awareness of environmental protection among youngsters. Registration is compulsory via the Amis des Sites de Mesquer website.
